A spousal sponsorship application may be delayed for any of the following reasons:
1. Incomplete or Incorrect forms- IRCC forms are constantly updated and it is imperative that the most recent version of the forms are submitted with your application.

5. Relationship genuineness- This is mandatory in all spousal sponsorship applications. The visa officer must be convinced that the applicant has not committed a fraudulent marriage in order to gain permanent residence status. A refused application on this basis may lead to a 5 year ban for the sponsored spouse due to misrepresentation.
6. Insufficient information in submission letter- This is the applicant’s opportunity to ensure there are no stones unturned and the visa officer is fully apprised of the required details and evidence of the relationship.
