Through the Express Entry system, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has sent out more invitations to apply (ITA). For applicants in the Express Entry’s education category, the immigration department has allocated 2,500 ITAs in a draw.
This draw in the education category is only the second in Express Entry’s history. Compared to the draw that took place on May 1st, the cut-off score is notably lower (from 479 to 462) and there is a greater draw size as well (from 1,000 ITAs to 2,500 ITAs).
What are Express Entry Draws?
On a routine basis, the Canadian government runs Express Entry draws which are also known as rounds of invitations. During these draws, the government extends invitations for permanent residence to candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply. Candidates will go through a ranking process based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Factors such as age, level of education, official language proficiency, and work experience are taken into account. Using these factors and other criteria, each candidate is assigned a CRS score out of a total of 1200 points.
Criteria for Eligible Candidates
In order to be regarded as a possible candidate, candidates are required to have:
Made an Express Entry candidate profile before 4:24 a.m. (UTC) on July 9, 2025
A minimum score of 462 in the CRS.
You must be ranked 2,500 or above to be invited to apply
If there’s more than one candidate that has the lowest score, the cut off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Express Entry Draws Throughout the Year
This Express Entry draw is the fifth draw of September 2025. It follows a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw which took place on September 15, a French-language draw on September 4, and a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on September 5.
Following the Education draw, there has been one draw up to date. A draw in Trade issued 1,250 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 505. Up to this point, IRCC has issued 59,797 ITAs through the Express Entry system in this year alone.
This year, a majority of the Express Entry draws were focused on PNP draws. The remainder of the Express Entry ITAs have been dedicated to candidates with French-language proficiency, CEC candidates, and people in the Express Entry priority occupation categories.
